Founder Joseph Wan joins the Board of Directors; Paul Tchen elected Chairman
Today (15 August 2020), Support! International Foundation, registered as Support International Foundation Limited, announces the appointment of Mr Joseph Wan as a Director of the Board. As a member of our Board of Directors, he will work closely with other directors and the Youth Leadership Team in developing and implementing strategy, organising programmes and events, and growing our reach. The Foundation also announces the election of Mr Paul Tchen to Chairman of the Board, succeeding Mr Lau Ming-Wai GBS JP who will continue to serve as a director.
Remarking on Mr Wan’s appointment, newly-elected Chairman Paul Tchen noted, “Joseph has deep knowledge of our operations and understands the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead” He continued, “the Board and I extended this invitation to Joseph knowing that he can and will continue to contribute to the work of this Foundation.”
Founder Joseph Wan commented that he was “honoured” to have the opportunity and remarked, “the Foundation as an idea has always aspired to be that facility for young leaders to make an impact, to organise programmes and events that contribute to and enhance the lives of others.” He continued, “this idea still holds today. And I look forward to working with Paul, my fellow directors and the YLT in augmenting and realising this vision.”
Mr Wan joins existing Directors Paul Tchen, Ming Wai Lau, GBS JP, Jacqueline Lam, Gary Liu, Sean Lynch, Ir Dr Derrick Pang, JP, Vivian Cheung and C S Wai, GBS JP.
At the same time, the Board wishes extend its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Mr Lau for his leadership of the Board as Chairman since the registration of the Foundation in May 2017, and is excited that he will continue to serve as a Director.

Joseph Wan
Mr Wan is the Founder of Support!, having started the Foundation as a student group in 2014. He held the position of President for four years, overseeing the growth of the organisation from a volunteer team of seven to over 150, and an impact base of forty to over 1000 in his final term in 2018. Under his leadership, the Foundation grew to operate our English-through-STEAM programme at eight sites, and launched community development initiatives including our Youth Leadership Conference, Leaders of Hong Kong Series and Tidal Wave Series. Mr Wan also initiated the Foundation’s first major fundraising campaign in support of strengthening and enhancing our programmes.
Since stepping down as President, Mr Wan has maintained a close connection first as an Advisor, and since 2020 as a Director of the Board. He is currently in his final year studying political theory at Wesleyan University, and spent his first year of college at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London studying international development.
