Ir Wai Chi-Sing, GBS JP
Ir Wai Chi-Sing is currently the Deputy Chairman & Managing Director of the Urban Renewal Authority in Hong Kong, the statutory body responsible for overseeing and managing the gentrification of the city's neighbourhoods.
C S is a career civil servant. Before being appointed to the Urban Renewal Authority in June 2016, he held the senior government post of Permanent Secretary for Development (Works). With a fruitful career of over 40 years in the civil service, C S has previously been the Director of Highways, and Deputy Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works. In addition, he is very active in public service, serving as an Advisor to Our Hong Kong Foundation, and Honorary Professor of Civil Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also a former non-executive director of the MTR Corporation, Ocean Park Corporation, Hong Kong Housing Authority, and Construction Industry Council. For C S’ tenured service in government and contribution to the community, he was awarded the Golden Bauhinia Star and is a Justice of the Peace.
C S holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from The University of Hong Kong, and is a chartered engineer and fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers, and the Hong Kong Institute of Highways and Transportation. He joined the Board of the Foundation in August 2017.
